This group exhibition, the first to be curated by Andrew
Lamprecht in two years, includes new and original work created
specifically for this exhibition by artist Wayne Barker. Barker explores
the spaces and the shift in consciousness by his eclectic piece, where he
uses artifacts that symbolize the heart of the Apartheid era (a found
object commemorating Verwoerd) and his trademark neon lighting, on a
monumental new piece called Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

Sculpture work by artist Richard Chauke, Winner Takes All,
which consists of three sculptures carved in the likeness of Nelson
Mandela, Cecil Rhodes and Jan van Riebeeck, are also on show at the
exhibition. His work brings to light the fact that history, as a
narrative, is changing and being shaped anew as time passes.
Another work highlighting this fact is by artist Gavin Younge (Bonnie and
Clyde, remix) where the artist can be seen together with Marlene Dumas
(1975-6) posing for a photograph where they solemnly commit to misbehaving
on a specified date, as part of a series of resistance pieces that Younge
was working on at that stage in South African History. This work not only
plays on the political relevance of the time but on the social relevance
of the artist who is universally always seen as the delinquent.
