The annual exhibition features more than forty top established and new South African artists and also offers an array of ceramics, sculptures, glass work, bronzes, functional art and creative jewellery.
“We are thrilled to be presenting our thirty fourth Summer Salon and have collected a marvelous range of South African works for the show,” says David Zetler, founder and owner of the Gallery. “There are magnificent pieces that reflect our South African landscapes, scenes and people in addition to a selection of abstracts, still lifes and drawings.”

Two new pieces by Cape Impressionist Kobus Louw will be presented including a large oil of the Bokaap, in brown and beige tones which are distinctive of his oeuvre. “Louw’s style is typical of the early works of artists such as Gregoire Boonzaaier, Piet van Heerden and Alexander Rose-Innes,” says Zetler. “He also does his paintings from drawings which is why his oils often don’t correspond to the actual landscape and buildings.”
Kaffie Pretorius employs a subtle palette to depict the people and environment of the West Coast where she grew up.  “Lamberts Bay has always been the focus of her paintings - the sea, gannets and goats – and we are showing two of her oils, Woman with Goats and Two Figures with Goats. Her work does not make philosophical or political standpoints but rather depicts what she can see, - flowers, birds and fish, with variations in tone and colour, all beloved subjects of her youth.”
Dawid Botha’s Farm Wall Paarl District is a good example of his early work. “His use of the grey pigment in his palette is well known and used to perfection in his Paarl paintings. This oil on board was painted in 1946 when he was only 26 years old. It shows a maturity beyond his years,” says Zetler. “Botha’s work is very sought-after, especially his street scenes in winter, which have almost become his trade mark.”
Other artists being exhibited at the Summer Salon include Stefan Ampenberger, Jeffrey Appollis, Kenneth Bakker, France Beyers, Sydney Carter, Frans Claerhout, Phil Cloete, Christo Coetzee, Kervin Cupido, Leon de Bliquy, Jennifer Dorrington, Johannes du Plessis, Francois Gerber, Alan Gray, Andre Groenewald, Marie Grotepass, May Hillhouse, Natalie Hirschman,  Bea Jaffray, Niel Jonker, Amos Langdown, Erik Laubscher, Robin Mann, Nola Muller, Naama Nothmann, Selwin Pekeur, Chris Ruthven, Mike Schur, Henk Serfontein, Lyn Smuts, Johan Steyn, Martin Stiller, Frederike Stokhuyzen, Ryno Swart, Ian Tainton, Conrad Theys, Dawid Toua, Stroh van der Walt, Tertius van Dyk,  Hannes van Zyl, Charles van der Merwe, Pieter van der Westhuizen, Jan Vermeiren and Daan Vermeulen.
