Dj Line-up for Southern Ink Exposure

Venue: Cape Town International Convention Centre
Time: -
Price: -
Performances: 23 - 25 Jan 2009
Genre: Festival

Realising that music is an integral part of tattoo culture, the organisers of Southern Ink XPosure, researched Cape Town’s musical heritage both past and present, and have booked a line-up of DJs and live musicians for the convention that will ensure patrons and artists are treated to a world class event with a strong local flavour.

The line-up of people playing music over the three days of the tattoo convention, represents one of the most stunning line-ups of Cape Town talent ever to assemble under one roof, bringing with a truly broad selection of music between them!

DJs to play over the three days at the CTICC include:

Kill City George -a.k.a front-man for ruling Cape Town rock band Taxi Violence! KC George’s music style ranges from downtempo dub to retro rock classics.

Mr. Sakitumi – a.k.a the drummer/remixer from Lark and numerous other musical projects besides dropping live jazz-hop beats!

Dank – twisted beat maestro from the Mother City whose new album ‘Cooking The Books’ is receiving rave reviews wherever it is plaid.
Mix n Blend – the sonic terror twosome that are renowned for bringing the thunder (and the smiles) to some of Cape Town’s finest parties over the years. Not an act to be missed! (Jagermeister optional)
Roach – Legend of the Cape Town underground music scene, co-originator of the African Dope Records legacy and all-round, well-liked knowledgeable industry chap!
Da Boogieman – a.k.a Farrell Adams; another long-serving South African DJ who has honed his craft over many years, from fronting award-winning, critically acclaimed bands (Nine) to rocking festivals and nightclubs all up and down the country, Da Boogieman knows how to bring it!
P.H.Fat - Consisting of members Narch Isseppi and Mike Zietsman. P.H.Fat are two bass heavy maniacs creating ‘bi-polar rap music, that you can dance to.’ Currently taking Cape Town (and the rest of SA), by storm!
Lilly Swoon – Pin-up model and retro-rock ‘n roll adherent, Lilly Swoon plays her selections exclusively off vinyl! If her music was a car, it’d be a chrome-dipped, cherry-red 1969 Ford Mustang.
DJ Fokolnonsins - a.k.a the angle-grinder wielding, canvas painting MC / DJ from legendary South African industrial rock band Battery 9! He drops an intelligent set of dubstep and brooding basslines with some well-crafted knob-tweakery!
Budhada (live MC) – Awesome live MC that will be dropping his lyrical dexterities from within the crowds at SIX!
Honey B – Cape Town’s most in-demand girl DJ with a vast musical knowledge coming through in her musical selection, so expect anything from classic swing to broken beats, to doo-wop and country stylings!
Fletcher – Co-creator of the African Dope Records legacy, Fletcher is without doubt Cape Town’s most sought-after party DJ, with his name appearing on flyers up and down the peninsula at everything from three-day outdoor trance parties to sweaty basement dancehall jams in Gugulethu township.
Niskerone – Superstar of the South African breaks scene, Niskerone certainly knows the business when it comes to cutting and cueing a tasty bassline or cheeky synth stab. To be in his presence is to understand the true meaning of the word “rocked”!
Hyphen – another total legend of the Cape Town underground scene, no drum ‘n bass party is complete without Hyphen pon the lineup!
VJ Grrrl – a special feature of the convention will be the live visuals, captured and manipulated on giant AV screens positioned around convention hall by the world-renowned girl VJ from Meme! Expect some interesting, ever-evolving works of art!
