Mango Groove will be releasing a limited number of tickets for their
private performance commemorating the 60th birthday of Somerset House.
The concert was initially exclusive to the school, family and friends, but
owing to a high demand from fans they have decided to release 200 tickets
to those who wish to share this special occasion with them.
In the words of Claire Johnston ‘’Somerset House has a personal
significance for John and I, and we felt this was a good way for us to do
something for the school. It is a beautiful setting for a concert: huge
trees, historic buildings and a wonderful family environment. It was very
much an intimate show for everyone associated directly with the school,
but once word got out we had loads of enquiries on our website from people
wanting to come to the show. Hopefully the additional few tickets will
allow some of our fans to see us in this unique and personal setting’’
As a music phenomenon in South Africa, Mango Groove needs very little
introduction. Since its first, multi-platinum release in 1989, the group
with its iconic lead singer Claire Johnston, has become a household name
in this country and has truly captured the hearts of all South Africans,
both here and all around the world. Mango Groove continues to hold live
attendance records for SA artists today, and has also taken the unique
Mango sound to dozens of countries around the globe.

November 2008 sees the release of ‘’The Essential Mango Groove’’: This
is a double CD, packed with all the Mango Groove hits of the last 20
years, as well as a host of remixes and previously unreleased bonus
tracks. The CD will be followed up by an ‘’Essential Mango Groove’’ DVD,
again packed with extras. Both products will be released through Gallo
Record Company in SA and Warner International in all other territories
throughout the world.
With 2009 around the corner, Mango Groove will be facing its busiest
year yet. The group will be releasing an all-new Mango Groove album and
documentary, the group’s first in over 10 years. They are also planning a
major South African tour and already have several
international shows scheduled.
On the live side in particular, and in John’s words: ‘’Mango is very
busy, and is looking and sounding better than ever. We have been hectic
over the last few months, but more with private shows and shows out of
SA. We have been very selective with regard to public performances,
however, primarily in anticipation of next year’s tour. There will be a
couple of ‘’toe in the water’’ appearances over the next few months and
the Somerset House show is an ideal opportunity for this: a chance to
reconnect with people, and in a particularly beautiful and personal
setting’’.
