TheatreSports, Cape Town’s longest running live theatre show, is getting a new name. ImproVision.
Megan Choritz started TheatreSports in Cape Town eleven years ago and introduced audiences to improvisation in performance. The shows quickly attracted a loyal following. Improvisation games were popularised by the TV show “Whose Line is it Anyway”, and TheatreSports became Cape Town’s local answer to Drew Carey’s gang of crazy performers.
Teams of talented and off-the-wall actors compete against each other by playing a series of improvised games. The audience suggests locations, styles, and crazy challenges to the performers from the comfort of their seats and the result is outrageous and hilarious. Each show has a charming emcee and a genius musical improviser and prizes are given to the most creative audience suggestion.
