The festival with its beautifully painted boats, spirited
drummers, and synchronized paddlers will be held on Friday the 10th and
Saturday the 11th of November, with Sunday the 12th set aside in case of
bad weather.
Companies will have the opportunity to participate in their
respective sector challenges, be it Financial Services, Media, Motor
Industry, Medical etc. This will be a great way for Companies to develop
social blending, teamwork, group bonding, mutual support, trust and
increased camaraderie amongst colleagues and partners, as it caters for
all shapes and sizes and it will also create the perfect environment for
companies to network and promote themselves. The official Opening Ceremony
will take place on Thursday the 9th with the traditional “Awakening” of
the Dragon. A prize giving will be held after the event, which will
include live music to round off a spectacular two days!
Pam Newby, Chairman of the Western Cape Dragon Boat
Association added: “Dragon boat racing as a sport is growing encouragingly
with 4 adult clubs (including a Breast Cancer Survivor team) and a number
of teams practicing 5 days a week in the V&A Waterfront. We look forward
to the 2006 Cape Town Dragon Boat Festival for not only giving these clubs
a goal to train for, but to welcome all new participants to the sport.”
For the full event schedule, online registration and entry
fees, teams can visit the official 2006 Cape Town Dragon Boat Festival
website at
www.dragonboat.co.za. Access to festival is free and the venue will
include food and beverage vendors and merchandise stalls. "We are
extremely exited about managing such a fantastic event and showcasing this
awesome sport. Pezula Events invites spectators to join them on the day
to support all teams as they battle it out on the water!”, says Craig
Tatton, Events Director of Pezula Events.
