The 2008 Summer Sun Festival will be taking place at the Diaz Strand
Hotel in Mossel Bay from 8 December 2008 to 8 January 2009. The highlights
of this year’s festival line-up include a performance by Laurika Rauch;
the Diaz Decadence Festival – a wine and food festival; the prestigious
Miss Diaz Strand beauty pageant, the SPAR ‘Hot Summer of Touch’ touch
rugby tournament, and a variety of shows by top local musicians.
The Diaz Decadence Festival at this year’s Summer Sun Festival
This Amsterdam-style street festival takes place from 12 to 14 December
2008 and forms part of the annual Summer Sun Festival at the Diaz Strand
Hotel. The festival will feature some of South Africa’s top wine farms
showcasing their best wines and to complement the fine wines on offer, a
wide selection of delicious food delicacies will also be available to the
public.
Bravo Outdoor Festival
One of the highlights of the Festival is the fabulously fun Amazing
Race, scheduled for 18 December 2008. Also, be sure to catch Ivan
Zimmerman, Stefan Ludik, and all your other favourite Egoli stars at the
Egoli Roadshow on 21 December 2008.

Crowning of Miss Diaz at Summer Sun Festival – 27 December 2008
The 2008 Miss Diaz Pageant promises to be an evening to remember.
Twelve of the most beautiful women will converge on the same stage to
compete for the honour of becoming the 2008 Miss Diaz Strand. The event,
brimming with glamour and excitement, features Amore Vitone as the host,
the Diaz Hip-Hop Dancers for entertainment, and the twelve beach beauties
who strut their stuff in evening wear, swimwear and casual wear.
Top Local Music at the Summer Sun Festival this December
Concerts will take place at the Diaz Strand Hotel’s Pero Dias Theatre,
offering a line-up that caters for all musical tastes. Be sure not to miss
Laurika Rauch on 12 December 2008; followed by Chris Chameleon (of BOO
fame) on 15 December; and celebrated guitarist Mel Botes will be
performing a tribute to all-time rock greats, Pink Floyd, on 17 and 18
December.
The SPAR ‘Hot Summer of Touch’ Touch Rugby Tournament
One of the biggest highlights of the Summer Sun Festival is the SPAR “Hot
Summer of Touch” Touch Rugby Tournament which kicks off on 29 December
2008. The tournament is guaranteed to be bigger and better than previous
years as the event also celebrates its 30 year anniversary! Last year,
despite the tides playing havoc with the playing field, a mammoth 64 teams
(lined with Springboks, ex-Springboks and Super 14 stars) entered this
prestigious and highly entertaining tournament.
