Time:
9:15pm
Price:
R30
Performances:
Every Tuesday
Genre: Comedy

The Purple Turtle and Mumz The Word presents Funny Bones – regular Tuesday night comedy. Every Tuesday will feature some of SA’s best comedians both established and up-n-coming. On Tuesday 23rd March 2010 Funny Bones would like to showcase some of South Africa’s best Black comedians, aptly named “The Dark Side of Comedy”.
The headliner for the evening will be Mum-z, whose career started with presenting on the SABC 2 teenage continuity programme ‘Kidz Can’ in 1997, he then delved in script writing where he co-wrote the 2003 Best Original Script at the Wits Raps Drama Festival – “The Pink Flamingo”. At UCT he was the 2004 UCT Radio Freestyle champion (undefeated) and in 2007 he was the Yfm Comedy Battle Champion.

Zinzi Mangweni will be closing the first half of the show. Most people will remember him from the Castle television adverts. “Zinzi Mangweni is Cape Town’s latest comic sensation. A native to the Mother City, he has a firm grasp on the comedic nuances of modern urban life. His style is a mix of racial observation and creative ‘sillyness’, based on his childhood in Langa. Zinzi walked away as the winner of the 2008 new talent search at the Cape Town International Comedy Festival – which can only mean one thing, the arrival of a new stand- up voice.
Augmenting to this already great line-up will be Marty Kintu (who has performed all over the country) and Leo (who will be opening the evening as an open spot).
