Many years ago, a young man born and raised in Gugulethu,
rustled up enough money for a one way ticket to Johannesburg to pursue a
seemingly impossible dream to become a comedian.
Eight years later this young man, now an award-winning
comedian, celebrated as one of the country’s most gifted comedians, comes
back to perform his one man show in Cape Town for the first time ever.
In this comedy and music extravaganza, Loyiso will be
supported by two of South Africa’s hottest music acts in award-winning
musician HHP (winner of a MTV Music Award) whose incredible live
performances have become legendary as well as the enigmatic JR whose track
“Make the circle BIGGER!’ has to surely go down in the annals of history
as the hit of 2010.

Loyiso’s illustrious career boasts of performances at all
the major comedy events on the local comedy calendar; performances in the
UK, the US, Dubai, Nigeria, Mauritius and Botswana; several television and
movie credits including co-hosting a television show with iconic comedian
Pieter Dirk Uys as well as being one of the comedians in the recently
released comedy movie Outrageous. He is also soon to be the star of
upcoming TV show – Late Night News with Loyiso Gola on eTV.
Loyiso’s previous one man show, “Loyiso Gola for President”
enjoyed groundbreaking success, earning him rave reviews as well as a
South African Award for Best Breakthrough Comedy Act of the Year and a
nomination for the Best Comedian of the Year at the Mzansi Awards. This
show is now on DVD and is selling well nationwide.
In terms of the show, Loyiso will unravel stories of his life and the
adventures of growing up in crazy South Africa. In a frank but tasteful
manner, he will make commentary on issues that we are surrounded by today
and his set will cover anything and everything from gender relations to
race relations, growing up in the townships to cruising in the suburbs,
Bantu education to union strikes.
