For the first time, local botanical and floral artists will be painting on site at the South African Airways Cape Town Flower Show.
Art in progress artists include Sandy Slater, Desmond Nel and Daphne Mackie who will be showcasing their works in mediums ranging from watercolour and silk technique, to oils and pastels. These artworks will be on display at the flower show art gallery.
Among the artists showcased will be three botanical artists from the Botanical Art Association of South Africa (BAASA) including Vicky Thomas, Judy Wheeler and Elbe Joubert Domrose, and a number of prize-winning South African Society of Artists (SAFA) who will display art with a floral theme.
Lyndi Sales, widely renowned as one of South Africa’s top contemporary artists and voted one of the top 10 finalists in the ABSA Atelier Art competition in 2003 and 2006, has created two beautiful botanical prints which will be given away as prizes to a lucky visitor to the show. The prints have been framed and donated by HandMade Framing, South Africa's leader in unique framing and ready-framed pictures. Entry forms will be available at the entrance to the show and from exhibitors.
The South African Airways Cape Town Flower Show features South African and exotic plants showcased through 60 mini gardens created by landscapers to inspire and educate visitors.
