SPORT & OUTDOOR

Kaizer Chiefs vs Ajax Cape Town

Venue: Newlands Rugby Stadium
Time: 3:00pm
Price: R30 (adults) R10 (children)
Performances: 5 Feb 2006
Cape Town will host a 2-day 'Football Festival' pitting top South African clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town against one another. The Festival will also feature exclusive appearances by the Western Cape's Idols winner and runner-up Karen Kortje and Gift Gwe.
The Amakhosi will arrive in the Mother City on Saturday and conduct coaching clinics in key townships in the Western Cape. Ajax will also join Chiefs in conducting workshops on HIV/AIDS, youth and crime. The coaching clinics are scheduled for Saturday from 15h00 and entry is free.
With the PSL in recess due to the African Cup of Nations, both teams being at virtual full strength and the festive season behind them, the fixture holds a lot of promise. The record between these two clubs is exactly even - each has won 4, with 6 draws - the crowd can expect a battle royal. Both teams are proud combatants and neither will give an inch, even though this is a friendly. In a recent league match between the two teams it ended 2-2 before a capacity crowd of about 30 000 spectators.
