The Banff Mountain Film World Tour, the world’s premier film
festival on mountain climbing, expeditions and remote cultures, comes to
Cape Town in September with a new offering of world-class documentaries.
The Banff Mountain Film World Tour, named after the Canadian
university town in Alberta, began an outreach program in 1986, bringing
the festival to communities throughout the world. Today the film festival
highlights the work and talents of the world’s finest mountain filmmakers
and is shown in 30 countries.
The Banff Mountain Film World Tour celebrates its
thirty-second year in existence and its twenty-first year on world tour.
Festival organizers receive hundreds of hopeful entries from filmmakers
throughout the world. Only twenty-five are chosen which are made available
to international festival producers.
Ten movies, ranging from three and twenty five minutes make
up the Banff Mountain Film World Tour in Cape Town. All ten films are
screened at each showing, which lasts one hour and fifty-two minutes.
The films cover various topics focusing on mountain biking,
skiing, crack climbing, bouldering, humour, snowboarding and B.A.S.E.
jumping.
