Third Annual Kahuna Surf Series

Venue: Muizenberg, Melkbosstrand, Kommetjie
Time: -
Price: -
Performances: 6 & 7 Oct (Muizenberg), 27 & 28 Oct (Melkbosstrand), 1 & 2 Dec (Kommetjie) 2007
Three prime entry level surf breaks on the Cape Peninsula provide the venues for the third annual Kahuna Surf Series (KSS) for novice surfers and emerging surf stars which gets underway on the first weekend in October and culminates with the crowning of the KSS champions in December.
Sanctioned by Western Province Surfing (WPS), the governing body for the sport in the region, KSS events cater for girls and boys in under 10, U12, U14 and U16 divisions and are restricted to surfers who have not previously won a nationally rated event, except for the annual SA Grommet Games.
This criteria is designed to foster and encourage novice surfers to enter the competitive surfing arena and to provide valuable competition practice for emerging surf stars with valuable product prizes from many of the country’s top surf brands at stake at each of the events and for the overall series winners in each category.
Following the successful formula of the past two years that has seen many KSS champions go on to represent the Western Province and Boland provincial surf teams at national level, the first KSS event in 2007 will be again be held at Muizenberg Corner (October 6 & 7), followed by Big Bay or Melkbos (October 27 & 28) before the finale in Kommetjie on December 1 & 2 where the series champions will be crowned for the third successive year.
