Hot Summer of Touch

Venue: Various beaches around the peninsula
Time: -
Price: -
Performances: 13 - 31 Dec 2008

The SPAR Hot Summer of Touch series, now in it's 8th year, kicks off on the 13th of December. The much anticipated series has become an annual highlight for Touch Rugby players, holiday makers and general beach goers who get caught up in the excitement of the festivities!
This year sees an additional event being added to the calendar taking the total number of tournaments in the series to seven. The series has grown over the years from one off, stand-alone tournaments to now offer competitors the chance of winning the Grand Prix, a cumulative competition which eventually unearths the ultimate champions of the beach!

Whilst the top Touch Rugby players in the country mix it up, the organisors have worked hard this year to implement new ideas and offerings to encourage players of all standards to participate at each event. There will be special prizes on offer for most promising teams as well as second tier (plate) competitions where space allows for it.
A big highlight this year, is the 30th birthday of Stilbaai Touchies, which is widely known amongst the Touch Rugby fraternity warmly known as the spiritual home of Touch Rugby in South Africa. A big celebration with a host of peripheral activities is expected and many old faces that were instrumental in growing the sport over the years are expected to be present this year.
The list of Beaches being visited this year include; Camps Bay (13th December), Strand (16th December), Onrus (21st December), Struisbaai (23rd December), Stilbaai (26th December) Diaz Beach, Mossel Bay (29th December) and Hartenbos (31st December).
