On the 2nd of February 1659, Jan van Riebeeck noted in his diary that
wine had been made in the Cape for the very first time.
In recognition of this auspicious and historical occasion the
Constantia Valley Association will be celebrating the 350th Anniversary of
South African Wine on the Cricket Oval at Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate by
hosting a grandiose garden party.
Sponsored by Warwick Private Wealth and the 8 producing wine farms of
the Constantia Valley (Constantia Uitsig, Buitenverwachting, High
Constantia, Groot Constantia, Steenberg, Eagles Nest, Klein Constantia and
Constantia Glen) this is an event not to be missed by lovers of wine and
food. The Constantia Valley is the oldest making wine region in the
Southern hemisphere dating back to 1685 and our wines continue to this day
to win accolades and international awards for consistently high standard
and quality.

Tickets includes two wine tastings, live entertainment from local
Constantia musicians; Camilla McDowell, Alicia Pam and the dance band
Spectrum. On arrival you will receive a goodie-bag with your Constantia
Valley branded wine glass. There is secure parking and a host of prizes
donated by the businesses of the Constantia Valley will be given out
during the day. A special prize will be awarded to the best dressed
couple so please pull out your parasols, boater hats and best garden party
attire. Gates open at 1130 and at 1230 we will all raise our glasses to
the success of the 2009 harvest.
Extra wine tasting tickets will be on sale and you can also use these
to purchase a bottle of your favourite Constantia wine to enjoy with
friends and colleagues while at the event.
Constantia’s top restaurants including: Constantia Uitsig, The River
Café, La Colombe, Catharinas, Cloetes Restaurant, Buitenverwachting
Restaurant, Cellars Hohenort, Peddlars and Bihari will all be at the event
selling a signature dish for you to enjoy.
