Time: 8:00am

Performances: 10 May 2009

The first annual Fair Cape MTB challenge, the first race of its kind in the Boland area, takes place on 10 May 2009. The race takes place through picturesque private farms just outside of Durbanville, offering spectacular 360º views of the Boland Mountains and Cape Peninsula. The two different routes available means that everyone from the super fit to the less competitive can participate in the fun.
Participants can choose their challenge from a 45 km route comprising of a variety of single track, climbs, downhill and farm road conditions, as well as a shorter 22 km that follows the first part of the long route, but with more moderate climbs, downhill and farm road conditions.

Families can hop on their bikes for an enjoyable day out as well as support a worthy cause, as all proceeds are in aid of the Carel du Toit Centre in Tygerberg for children with hearing impairments and speech difficulties.
The challenge is open to all ages, but children under ten must be accompanied by an adult. Contestants stand the chance of winning great prizes and refreshments will be available along the route.
The race starts off at Rondebossieberg Farm in Durbanville at 08h00 for the 45 km route and 08h30 for the 22 km route. The challenge is co-ordinated by the Pedal Power Association and PPA members wearing their seeded numbers will start off first. Non-members need to acquire a CSA day license for MTB routes in excess of 20 km.
