Opening the concert will be Johannesburg-based urban pop
group Gang of Instrumentals, who play an innovative mixture of hip hop,
street rap, pop, soul, R&B, ragga, reggae and rock, with elements of
kwaito and house.
Securing Just Jinjer was a fabulous coup for the organisers,
since they are now based in Los Angeles. Their trademark propulsive and
engaging sound that is more influential than influenced, has a wide-open
musical and lyrical spirit that draws in listeners and wins their hearts
and minds.
Take two jazz students, add a sax, a double bass and a
couple of synths and you have the beginnings of another of South Africa’s
greatest talents and exports – Goldfish. Dominic Peters and David Poole
have since expanded that to incorporate their multi-instrumental skills
into a live act which has propelled them to being a global phenomenon,
performing hundreds of gigs in dozens of countries, including a residency
at the legendary Pacha Ibiza, where the duo have performed alongside the
likes of Basement Jaxx, Will.I.Am, Erick Morillo, Faithless, Paul
Oakenfold, and Fedde le Grande.
Also performing for the second year running is DJ
extraordinaire Shaun Duvet, who has in fact remixed for Goldfish.
Entrance to the Style Lounge Village is R250 excluding food
and drink, and tickets are available at Computicket.
