A record number of 85 schools, which include primary, high,
rural, special needs schools and community organisations will be
participating this year, which will see approximately 2 500 learners,
ranging in age from seven to 21, from different cultural backgrounds
sharing the stage. On average the audience can look forward to ten
performances per evening. The majority of schools are from the Cape Town
Metropole, with rural schools coming from the West Coast, Southern Cape,
Little Karoo, Swartland and Boland areas.
Any performing art genre, with the exception of drama is
catered for in the festival. Choirs, dancers, musicians, speech and verse
may be presented in ensemble or solo pieces, which should be less than 10
minutes. Visual art created by learners, such as drawings, paintings,
sculpture and crafts will be exhibited in the foyer for the duration of
the festival.
