The final major production in this year’s 5th Artscape Spring Drama Season will be The Tent, written and directed by well-known theatre personality, Megan Choritz of Theatresports fame. The play was presented as a Showcase production or try out at last year’s Spring Drama Season.
The Tent is set in a small and conservative South African village, where everybody knows everybody yet secrets are hidden, and the local petrol station is the centre of village gossip. One morning a tent appears on the open land next to the garage, and it and its occupants change the lives, alliances, relationships and futures of all in the village. The Tent is a humorous, provocative and ultimately challenging play exploring how South Africans feel about themselves and others.
