Performances: 2 - 31 Dec 2010

Good Will Acting is the story of four young actors who find themselves abandoned and unemployed this December. They pick themselves up, dust themselves off,  therapise, criticise and complain,  then slap together a Christmas show in spite of the reasons they thought they couldn’t.
In the holiday spirit, they decide to put on an Activity, which is a lot like a Nativity, only less negative and more positive, as Ras the rasta, ‘unloves’ anything negative. Libertina X doesn’t care what it’s called as long as her honours in theatre making skills are shown off in such a way that it guarantees proper theatre work soon. Tabatha is fully alive to the process of acting -  LRA, Listen, Respond, Act - , and Marlene just wants to do anything that will help her not have to waitress.
The result is the story of the Birth told in a most unique way, and including songs, dancing, and a set and costumes that belong to another show.

Directed, workshopped, written and edited by Fleur du Cap winner Megan Choritz, of TheatreSports fame, Good Will Acting is devised in collaboration with cast members  Anele Situlweni, Daneel van der Walt, Larissa Hughes and Ntomoxolo Makhutshi, with design input from Helen Cooper.
“This is going to be hilarious, holiday magic which I am delighted to say has been created especially for the festive season at Kalk Bay Theatre,” says Simon Cooper, owner of Kalk Bay Theatre. “It marks the start of a festive season tradition for us.
“In addition, there will be a Good Will Box in the foyer, where donations can be made to the Theatre Benevolent Fund, a wonderful organisation that provides support to professional members from all disciplines of the entertainment industry, who find themselves in difficult circumstances. It is fitting given that the play is about actors and weekly deposits will be made.”
Good Will Acting will preview on 2 and 3 December, open on Saturday 4 December, then be performed Wednesday – Saturday until 18 December and from 20 – 23 and 27 – 31 December, when there will be a special New Year’s Eve performance.
