Everard Read, Cape Town, is delighted to present Beezy Bailey’s first solo show in Cape Town since 2007. ‘Dancing in the Woods’ is a selection of recent paintings and drawings.
The majority of the paintings are inspired by the 5,000 Tree Landscape Project, a venture that compliments Bailey’s painting of traditional landscapes. Except that in this case, instead of creating trees in paint, Bailey and the Project team aim to fashion a real landscape by planting 5,000 trees in the barren Cape Flats areas. The presence of trees brings birds, bees and butterflies to communities; Bailey’s paintings and drawings incorporate these creatures and plants in vibrant shades.
