DVD REVIEW

The Legend of Zoro

Director: Martin Campbell
Cast: Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Rufus Sewell
Classification: 10V
Running Time:
126 min

Banderas and Zeta-Jones reprise their roles as Zoro and Elana with the same passion and charisma witnessed in the first Zoro film. Indeed it is impossible to imagine any other two actors playing these roles. Adrian Alonso is added to the mix as their precocious and rapscallion young son, Joaquin, who spends as much time getting into trouble as he does exasperating his father and ultimately helping Zorro save the day.
Rufus Sewell superbly plays the role of the aristocratic and pompous villain Count Armand, a member of a secret society bent on destroying the fledgling United States, which California has just voted to join. Having been thrown out of the house, Zorro and Elena spend equal amounts of time arguing as they do trying to find out what Armand is up to, laying the groundwork for a highly watchable action-adventure comedy that will keep you thrilled to the end.
The special effects and sword fights are bigger and better than before and include some amazing stunts with Zoro's horse Tornado on top of a moving train.
If you enjoyed the first Zoro movie, you certainly won't want to miss this one.
