The exhibition will be introduced by John White (Frederike’s Husband)

Born in Johannesburg in 1938, Frederike studied at Rhodes University in order to obtain her B.A Fine Arts degree. She continued her studies at the Central School of Art in London, specialising in stained glass window design.

Since 1963 Frederike has been a full time professional artist and has held many solo exhibitions throughout South Africa as well as abroad. She has participated in several major group exhibitions in London, such as the Royal Institute of Oil Painters; the Royal Institute Winter Salon; The Royal Society of British Artists; the Society of Graphic Artists and the Society of Wildlife Artists, and at the Paris Salon in Paris.

In 2010, Fernwood Press produced a very successful publication, titled Frederike Stokhuyzen Born to be an Artist. The book provides a detailed view of Frederike’s endeavours, influences and techniques throughout her artistic career.
