Auntie Pasti, one of Riebeek Kasteel’s most popular eateries proves that dynamite comes in small packages.

With its laid back atmosphere, exceptional food and two of the best hosts in the business - Coenie Kruger and Johan Hurter, this pint-size restaurant has won the hearts and praises of many loyal diners.

As their name suggests, Auntie Pasti’s menu is in keeping with antipasti style dining. Those unfamiliar with the antipasti concept can expect to be bowled-over with a variety of tastes and textures from the ever-changing chalkboard menu. Most ingredients are sourced locally from the neighbouring farms and suppliers, so not only are the combinations packed with flavour, but they are also fresh and tantalising.

Recommended dishes include Roasted Trio of Peppers with Capers & Anchovies enjoyed alongside Caramelised Baby Onions and a few slices of Mortadella & Salami on the side. Or try their Homebaked Corn Bread dipped in an Aubergine & Tomato Stew and topped with Parmesan. Spicy Chicken Livers soaked in Marsala Wine & Smoked Paprika are perfect for cosy winter dining as well as a delicious slow-roasted Osso Bucco – with its hearty full flavours.

The restaurant’s snug interior spills out onto a rustic ‘rietdak’ covered patio area, complete with comfy couches and cushions and several quirky table and chair couplings. Auntie Pasti is the perfect setting for long leisurely lunches and dinners, and you can expect your meals to roll into sociable lantern-lit evenings, accompanied by fine local wines.

‘The Chalkboard menu at Auntie Pasti seems to be a hit with diners and can change on a daily basis. The one constant that remains is the never ending supply of delicious dishes and menu options’ says Coenie and Johan.

Auntie Pasti is tucked away in a romantic corner of the town’s social epicenter – the Town Square. For bookings call (27) (22) 448 1331.
