Description

Strikingly graphic, these paintings use a pared-down but powerfully descriptive line against a monochromatic backdrop of intense colour. Hodgkinson transposes the qualities of chance, spontaneity & abbreviation found in observational line drawing directly into his painting. Creating, against the flat colour field, a line that is daring, elliptical, subtly textured, and at times surprisingly abstract.
