Category Error employs the Main, Long and New Media gallery of the AVA with a diverse body of work by the ten participating artists.

Ancestry, colonial heritage, family mythology, Diaspora and identity in a modern African democracy are explored. The core group of participating artists work as a loose collective, meeting regularly to exchange ideas and source material, as well as engage with each others' working processes.  The artists involved work in diverse mediums, including embroidery, screen printing, painting, ceramics, video, collage and collection - based installation.  The over arching theme relates to an ongoing, playful engagement with the notion of 'category error', a term borrowed from philosophy,   here referring to the conceptual and material transformations  that inform their creative practices.

In the Artstrip Warren Editions presents Monotype. Warren Editions a professional printmaking studio, (est. 2007 by Master Printmaker, Zhané Warren) prints and publishes original fine art prints in  collaboration with contemporary South African fine artists. For this show, titled Monotype, WE along with artists Sanell Aggenbach, Georgina Gratrix and Michael Taylor, focuses on the monotype technique as a means to explore the painterly qualities within the printmaking discipline.
