Pack your picnic baskets, round up the family and head down to the Helderberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West for the Summer Sunset Concerts.

Taking place from November 2011 to March 2012, concerts will suit every mood and age, with music ranging from jazz, pop, rock and oompah to big band.
Presented by the Friends of the Helderberg Nature Reserve and its new sponsor, Fleur du Cap, these festive outdoor concerts kick off on Sunday 27 November 2011 with The Blues Broers.

This legendary band has returned to the stage after a hiatus of seven years. Snappily attired in their trademark black suits and dark glasses, they are ready to roll again. The band is currently recording a new album, Out of the Blue, due for release in November this year.

The concerts take place on the following Sundays at 17:30:

  • 27 November 2011 - The Blues Broers
  • 11 December 2011 - The Delft Big Band
  • 8 January 2012 - Wurstzipfel (Oompah) Band
  • 22 January 2012 - Shiraz
  • 5 February 2012 - Virtual Jazz Reality
  • 19 February 2012 - The SA Navy Staff Band
  • 11 March 2012 - Banned in Evolution

All proceeds generated by the concerts go towards environmental projects in the Reserve.

Tickets for the Summer Sunset Concerts cost R40 per adult and R10 for scholars and the price includes entrance to the Reserve. There is no admission fee for children under the age of five. Tickets are available at the Nature Reserve Information Centre or on concert days at the gate.
