Take a shaking, shimmying, smashing journey to the era of miniskirts, gogo-boots, Beatle-mania and Carnaby Street…

“Shout! The Mod Musical” goes back to the Swinging Sixties and chronicles the dawn of women’s liberation reflecting the revolution of the sixties through the unforgettable music that made them famous.

The timeless tunes of artists like Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Cilla Black and Lulu are tied together by the cast of five by hilarious sound-bites from the period including letters to an advice columnist who believes that life’s most daunting problems can be solved with a fetching new hair style or a manicure.

All at once touching and funny, Shout! unashamedly wears it’s heart on its sleeve with moving performances of “To Sir with Love”, “I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself” and “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” interspersed with familiar favourites like “Downtown”, “Shout” and “Goldfinger.”

The show is directed and choreographed by Garth Tavares (Waterfront Theatre School) and showcases the talents of the all-woman cast:

Martine Kawalsky from Milnerton, The Red Girl (Hairspray MHS 2012, Honk 2011)
Melissa Sanderson from Parklands, The Orange Girl (Proudly South African 2012, Fiddler on the Roof 2011)
Luella Holland from Claremont, The Yellow Girl (Edges 2011, Gigi 2010)
Laura Bosman from Pinelands, The Green Girl (Honk 2011, Annie 2010)
And Jennifer Moss from Fishhoek, The Blue Girl (Honk & Godspell 2011)

The show opens on the 19th of July at the Pinelands town hall and tickets are only R110 including an English pub-style meal. To book, email [email protected] 0729231035.
