The side-splitting one-man physical theatre comedy "The Dog’s Bollocks", takes to the stage at the Kalk Bay Theatre until 27 April after a run at the KKNK.
Director Rob Murray (FTH:K & UBOM) and Actor/Author Gaëtan Schmid have teamed up to create a a side-splitting celebration of people’s need to communicate and desire to be understood.
The Dog’s Bollocks takes place in a classroom where an eccentric Eastern European Professor, can’t wait to share his passion for the history of the English language in his very particular and peculiar lecturing style. His English, to be diplomatic, is not of an Oxford standard and his vocabulary is rather limited, so he often has to resort to a bizarre mix of mime and gestures to communicate effectively to the audience, with hysterical consequences.
After a short summary of the history of the English language, the Professor analyses comical and often absurd situations that could be caused by language misunderstandings. It seems like a Hamburger might just be a person, and a hotdog, well … isn’t it a hot dog?
Belgian theatrer artist Gaëtan Schmid is currently living and working in Cape Town. After studying theatre at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, France he toured to festivals and theatres around the globe. Since arriving in South Africa 13 years ago, Schmid produces, creates, writes and performs his original one-man-shows, with the latest three being The Dog’s Bollocks, Rumpsteak and Body Language. The latter two productions have been met with great enthusiasm at previous KKNK’s.
The Dog’s Bollocks will be performed at the Kalk bay Theatre until 27 April at 8:00pm. Tickets are R95.
