Fresh from winning a SA Music Award in 2011, the 13 track PULSE is Sterling EQ’s third studio album. PULSE builds on their formula of using modernised and electrified classical instruments in combination with hot beats and contemporary production techniques. Acclaimed producer, Mauritz Lotz came on board and also composed three of the tracks on the album which was recorded at Milestone Studios in Cape Town, while some of Jozi’s top producers, including internationally renowned Byron Keno, contributed to the mix.
While Sterling EQ’s first album was more of a classical crossover album, PULSE has organically moved away from the classical foundation and features music that brings out the best out of Sterling EQ in a truly contemporary music context. The title "PULSE" embodies the consistent energy and vibrance of the album and each song it contains. Whether it is the contagious Latin club rhythms of Carnaval, the sheer virtuosity of Asturias, the epic sounds of O Fortuna, the cheekiness of Baker Beat, or the relentless pace of the title track (Pulse); each song has a energy which is sure to hit the spot.
