The wines that received the award are the Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009 and the Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2007. In total 56 wines were accorded this honour.
Kobus Basson Managing Director of Kleine Zalze, was enthusiastic in his praise for Johan Joubert, Cellarmaster at Kleine Zalze and the winemaking team of Bertho van der Westhuizen and Zara Conradie: “2010 has been another golden year for us and we are very proud of this achievement and the other awards that we have won this year.” Basson commenting specifically on how the top of the range Family Reserve wines have performed had this to say: “Any winery when developing a wine range wants to make sure that their wines improve year on year, and this recognition from Platter, which recognises consistent quality rather than once-off stand out wines, is reward for all the efforts made by the wine making team. We are naturally very pleased with the results and join in on congratulating the other wineries and their winemakers.”
Kleine Zalze’s Family Reserve wines are wines of distinction and are only made in exceptional years when nature allows. First released in 2004, the range, which consists of a Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon, have won a host of awards since their release and are poured in some of the finest hotels and restaurants around the world.
