Two of the country’s most celebrated classical artists will be featured at the final chamber music recital of the 2012 Nederburg Concert Series on October 28.
Soprano Zanne Stapelberg, and renowned pianist François du Toit, will entertain guests with a versatile repertoire of sultry French chansons and fiery Spanish songs.
Music by Debussy, Ravel and Weil will be interspersed with popular classics by de Falla and Montsalvage, as well as the passionate Milonga from Astor Piazolla's tango opera, Maria de Buenos Aires. Du Toit will also perform some solo surprises.
Considered one of South Africa’s leading sopranos, Stapelberg was named the 2008 Standard Bank Young Artist for Music, one of the country’s most prestigious art awards. A celebrated soloist, she will make her appearance at Nederburg fresh from a stint at the Sun City Superbowl where she will be among other major local artists headlining at the annual Huisgenoot Skouspel.
Based at UCT’s SA College of Music where he is Associate Professor of Piano, Du Toit is acknowledged as one of South Africa’s finest pianists, chamber musicians and music educators. An acclaimed concerto soloist and a sought-after accompanist, he is also a highly respected adjudicator at the various national music competitions.
The recital starts at 17h00, but guests are welcome to enjoy a complimentary drink on the veranda prior to the performance. Tickets are R170 per person and include light supper snacks served with the estate’s finest wines.
