Elgin Valley
- AA Township Kitchen
AA Township Kitchen is situated in Pineview; a ‘township’ of Grabouw in Elgin. Guests are literally that – warmly welcomed guests – as they sit in the comfy lounge/dining room of the small timber home shared by owners Andrew Kortje and wife Anne. On a sunny day Andrew will show the kids his beautifully tended garden too. Enjoyhomemade roasts, traditional chicken pie, fruit salad and ice cream, whilst learning more about this charming and entrepreneurial family and what is hot in the town ofGrabouw. Bring your own alcohol as they are not licensed. Perfect for a small party of friends, an extended family or a personalised travel group, AA Township Kitchen is the Cape Country Meander’s warmest welcome.
- Bear and Barrel Pub and Restaurant
The Bear and Barrel is a pub adjacent to the Apple Museum in Grabouw offering a casual atmosphere and grill type fare, including great steaks.
- Blossom Kitchen
The Blossom Kitchen is known for its home cooked meals and strictly Elgin Valley wine list as well as a selection of goodies to go. A kiddies playground and excellent sweet treats make this one a favourite.
- Bodemloos Kombuis
Bodemloos Kombuis is well-known for their spit-roasted Greek lamb but is not generally open to the public – opening rather for special events and music evenings. Call them up to see when you can next make a turn.
- Brinny Breezes at Old Mac Daddy
Set in an uncluttered Barn, Brinny Breezes is famed for its wood-fired pizza oven and magnificent views. A kid’s playroom adds to the appeal.
- Elgin Grabouw Country Club Restaurant
The Elgin Grabouw Country Club is situated on the banks of the Eikenhof dam, offering a very affordable, ‘old school’ a la carte menu and great traditional Sunday lunches.
- Flavours Restaurant at Mofam River Lodge
Flavours is a sleek contemporary restaurant that overlooks the river at Mofam River Lodge. They offer healthy dishes of seasonal, fresh and locally sourced produce but make a booking first!
- Fresh at Paul Cluver
Fresh at Paul Cluver is an ingenious indoor/outdoor cabin of wood and glass that serves excellent, fresh Elgin fare on the Paul Cluver estate. With plenty of vegetables and herbs to hand in the generous gardens outside, the experience is one of being in a kitchen but with some extra lovely linen and table ware, and a deliciously simple menu.Note that Fresh is closed for much of winter.Gordon Manuel @ The Venue, South Hill
- Gordon Manuel @ The Venue is Elgin’s answer to French gourmet. Owner chef Gordon Manuel blends this trained hand with a pinch of local is lekker (think seafood vetkoek) and is famed for its mushroom risotto.
- Highlands Road Estate Deli
Highlands Road Estate Deli has a simple menu with easy going food and a pizza selection. Beautifully set on the edge of the dam, the kids will enjoy the jungle gym too.
- The Orchard
The Orchard is a landmark stop for travellers along the N2, known for its delicious coffee and baked treats. A large stretch of lawn and some play equipment means it’s a great place to stop and let the little ones stretch their legs.
- The Red Tractor Café at Peregrine Farm Stall
The Red Tractor Café’s seasonal menu is dictated by fresh and locally available produce, hearty breakfasts and generous portions of cake.
- Wildcats Pub & Restaurant
Wildcats Pub and Restaurant is found at the Tri Active Lodge and offers a la carte or special group menus, including braai’s, spit roasts and potjiekos.
Botrivier
- Die Blaasbalk Restaurant, Botrivier Hotel
A family restaurant famous for its delicious Sunday lunches, the Botrivier Hotel was recently restored and is a great Meander landmark.
- Gabriëlskloof
Gabriëlskloof is a relative newcomer to the Botriver wine scene but locals and wine lovers have been returning for more wine, olives and great foodie fare ever since it opened its doors in 2009.
- Goedvertrouw Wine Estate
Goedvertrouw Wine Estate serves homemade breakfasts, lunches and dinners overlooking a charming country garden.
- Outspan Restaurant and Bistro
Outspan is a fairly new bistro, restaurant and wine cellar in Botrivier that hosts a Wednesday Pizza Night and Sunday lunch with guitarist Terry Dean.
- Porcupine Hills Restaurant
Enjoy fresh homemade farm food using fresh local ingredients and the produce from their gardens. Open by appointment only, at least 6 persons. With fireplaces in- and outside you can enjoy dining all year round with a stunning view of the mountain where black eagles built their nest.
- The Shuntin' Shed
The Shuntin’ Shed is a quirky restaurant in a railway siding on the Botrivier train station. They make a range of daily specials, great wood-fired pizzas and have regular live entertainment. They also offer spit braai roasts in summer and Sunday roasts in winter.

The Black Sheep Restaurant is a contemporary-styled restaurant that serves dishes from an a la carte menu.
- Blue Crane Restaurant at The Caledon
The Blue Crane serves dishes inside or out and the venue offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains.

Café Letta offers light meals and lunches.
- Creation Wine & Restaurant
Situated between Caledon and Hermanus in the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde valley, Creation Wines offers lunch daily, as well as wine and food pairing experiences.

Andy’s is open Tuesday to Sundays and serves delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners in a lovely old Villiersdorp house.
- Aphrodisiac Shack
The Aphrodisiac Shack produces a range of sauces and treats, smoked extra-virgin olive oil and oak smoked goods sold from their deli, in addition to hosting regular Moonlight Markets every first Friday night of the month (weather dependent). Fully catered-for picnics are also offered on the bank of the Theewaterskloof Dam with a play area for kids.

The Moravian Restaurant is an inviting venue serving traditional foods. Food production and sales also provide many with employment or some means. In Greyton, a Wednesday morning community market – the Greyton Kitchen Farmers Market (not to be confused with the Greyton Saturday Morning Market) sees anyone, from a home gardener to a small-scale farmer, bringing in their vegetable produce to sell in the town.
