Secretaries Day on Wednesday 5 September 2012 pays tribute to what is still regarded as one of the world’s most valued professions.

This year ‘bosses’ can show their gratitude for the essential role their ‘right hand women’ play, by treating them to an exquisite, five-star lunch at the Azure Restaurant at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. The two-course lunch costs R275 per person, and includes a glass of white or red wine, as well as a ‘spa taster’ gift voucher.

It is said that even the Roman and Greek politicians of yesteryear relied on personal secretaries to manage their affairs. Centuries later, these essential people still make sure that everything runs smoothly in an office, and multitask by handling confidential information discreetly, decipher their bosses’ impossible scribbles, perform seven tasks at once and occasionally even fix a stubborn printer!

Executive Chef, Henrico Grobbelaar, will get the afternoon of glamorous pampering going with a starter choice of Cinnamon and star aniseed cured Norwegian salmon with fine beetroot, cape and fennel salad, ciabatta crisp and citrus béarnaise, or Seared black bean beef, rocket and field greens and toasted almonds with teriyaki dressing.

For mains the talented young chef will be preparing a choice of Grilled corn-fed chicken supreme, leek and lentil salad, nutmeg dust mashed potatoes, candy apple and cranberry jus, or grilled fish of the day, warm Brussels sprouts, buttered carrot, potatoes and lemon lime cream.

No gourmet indulgence, especially on a day away from the office, is ever complete without delectable desserts for which Grobbelaar will lay on Marbled chocolate mousse with raspberry and strawberries, or Vanilla crème brûlée with mango. To end the magic of the day, one fortunate guest will walk away with a coastal helicopter flip for two in a lucky draw.
