This year marks the silver anniversary of the SAFARI Half Marathon, challenging runners’ endurance once again on Tuesday, 1 May 2012 in Wellington.
The event has been voted as one of the most popular on the Western Cape running calendar and creates a perfect opportunity for both novice and professional runners to put their stamina and endurance to the ultimate test. Families and outdoor enthusiasts can also look forward to great fun and entertainment on this public holiday.
The SAFARI Half Marathon attracts tens of thousands of eager runners every year and it is understandable why the event is so well subscribed. The race rewards runners with one of the most beautiful and scenic routes through the picturesque Cape Winelands. Fitness enthusiasts can choose between the 21,1km Run and Relay or a 10km walk or 5km fun run, ensuring that there is an event to suit all fitness levels and abilities.
The Monte Christo Miqlat (MCM) is the SAFARI Half Marathon’s beneficiary and it operates 6 community upliftment programmes in the Drakenstein area, creating a positive impact on these areas which are struggling with poverty and social problems.
