New Year's Eve at the Kalk Bay Theatre

Enjoy a night of high-energy, fun entertainment and a delicious, deluxe picnic basket as you count down to the new year with the talented cast and team of the award-winning Big Boys Don’t Dance at Kalk Bay Theatre on New Year's Eve.

Great theatre, great company, great food, great fun! On New Year’s Eve, Kalk Bay Theatre will be celebrating in style, offering Sandi’s delicious Deluxe Picnic Hampers, a later show than usual and celebrating at the stroke of midnight. The production won a Standard Bank Ovation Award at the 2010 National Art Festival and is presented by Follow Spot Productions, creators of the acclaimed Big Girls Don’t Cry and Love @ First Fight , which played to sold-out houses earlier this year at Kalk Bay Theatre. Featuring Bradley and Ash Searle (of So You Think You Can Dance fame), Big Boys Don’t Dance is set at Ash’s bachelor party.

The boys get into their fair share of trouble but from one ridiculous idea to another, they prove that true brothers watch each other's back. Using a dazzling range of dance styles, from 80s hip hop to kwaito, Dirty Dancing to the Shuffle, they twirl their way through this unforgettable adventure of far-out farce and foolishness. Caught between braai tongs and tutus these two Pretoria boytjies challenge the cliché of the “male dancer”. Cue described the production as “Big Boys is a South African version of The Hangover meets Flashdance with all the technical perfection of a Broadway musical.”

On New Year’s Eve, doors will open at 7pm and the performance will start at 21.30pm. Tickets to the New Year’s Eve performance cost either R285 per person to include a ticket to the show and Sandi’s deluxe picnic basket. Or R360 to include a ticket to the show, Sandi’s deluxe picnic basket and bottle of sparkling wine per 2 hampers ordered. “More than fifty per cent of tickets have already be sold so I encourage people to book early,” says Simon Cooper, owner of Kalk Bay Theatre. “It’s going to be a festive evening!”.
