Du Toitskloof Wines near Rawsonville has again been named as the cellar offering overall the best value for money.

It is the fifth time in 12 years the cellar has received this distinction. Thirteen of its wines have been included in the 2012 Best Value Wine Guide, five of them named as class winners.

Its 2010 Pinotage Merlot Ruby Cabernet, Capesecco Rosé, Capesecco Blanc, 2011 Chenin Blanc and 2010 Hanepoot Jerepigo all took top honours in their respective categories.

A delighted Shawn Thomson, chief winemaker at Du Toitskloof Wines, said he and his team have always prided themselves on offering exceptional value, year on year.

“South Africans love their wine but in these difficult financial times they have become more discerning, searching for affordable wine which did not sacrifice quality. I believe our wines have always offered that. Our producers deliver to us grapes of exceptional quality and we pride ourselves on the fact that however large the volume of wine we produce, we nevertheless retain the quality inherent in the grapes that were produced with so much care. “And we try to do so year after year.  We have won this award against increasingly stiff competition in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2009, and believe that by doing so we have proved the consistency of the quality we today offer consumers worldwide.”

The 2010 Pinotage Merlot Ruby Cabernet, 2011 Chenin Blanc and 2010 Hanepoort are available nationally at about R29, R27 and R42 respectively. The perlé wines Capesecco Rosé and Capesecco Blanc are available from the cellar only at R27 each.
