Karl Lambour and Schalk Opperman of Holden Manz will be joined by the winemakers of AA Badenhorst, Eagle’s Nest and Mullineux to showcase their Shiraz cellar gems during what promises to be an unforgettable food and wine pairing dinner at the Franschoek Kitchen, the signature restaurant at Holden Manz. The Franschhoek Kitchen team has created an irresistible menu, with each dish complementing the rich, spicy notes of the four prominent Shiraz wines.
The food and wine journey starts with the highly acclaimed 2009 Eagle’s Nest Shiraz from the Constantia Valley paired with a delicate Carpaccio of wild springbuck, beetroot jelly and pink goat cheese.
The silky 2009 Mullineux Syrah from the Swartland will be served with rich, earthy truffled wild mushroom ravioli.
The 2008 Holden Manz Shiraz has been paired with the evening’s main course: rack of Karoo lamb served with a cassoulet of herbed beans. The stately 2008 vintage with its subtle crushed black pepper and tantalising spiciness will be an outstanding foil for the juicy flavours of this hearty dish.
Ending the evening on a high, indulge your senses with the terrine of blue cheese enlivened with Holden Manz home grown figs, a perfect match for another Swartland hero, the 2008 AA Badenhorst Red Blend.
The Holden Manz Shiraz Food and Wine evening on Wednesday, 28 March begins at 19h00 for 19h30 and costs R300 per person. For bookings call 021-8762729
