Nederburg is running an online series of entertaining Winemaster’s Classes for the duration of MasterChef SA.

The winery is the official wine sponsor and also the venue for much of the reality cooking show that will be broadcast weekly for 18 weeks. All the wines available to MasterChef SA contestants are drawn from Nederburg’s Winemaster’s Reserve range. Every second week, a short video clip featuring Nederburg’s cellar master Razvan Macici will be run on www.nederburg.co.za in which he chats about a wine, its flavours and offers some food pairing suggestions. The clips are from 60 to 90 seconds long.

Winemaster’s Class participants will be asked a single question based on his discussion in order to move onto the next video clip two weeks later and will stand in line to win one of nine Le Creuset three-piece cookery sets in the colour of their choice, to the value of almost R4 000 each. According to Suné van der Merwe, who heads Distell’s South African wine marketing team, the classes are relaxed, fun but informative interludes and participants are given clues along the way to help them answer the question each time. Even if participants have missed a class or two, they can join in at any point during the series and catch up with their fellow classmates.

Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve wines are sold nationwide and range in price from R45 to R75, depending on the wine and the vintage. MasterChef SA will be broadcast every Tuesday at 19:30 on M-Net.
