Twelfth Night at Maynardville Open-Air Theatre

Artscape and the Maynardville Theatre Trust celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shakespeare productions at Maynardville Open-Air Theatre.

Twelfth Night, or What You Will, directed by Geoffrey Hyland, is a merry-go-round of unrequited love, mistaken identities, high comedy, clowning and drunken revelry. The show provides both wonderful entertainment and a reflection on mortality, the end of youth and how fleeting our lives are.

Set and costumes are designed by Illka Louw and International actor Jeremy Crutchley will star as Malvolio, supported by Claire Watling (Feste), Astara Mwakalumbwa (Olivia), Nicholas Ellenbogen (Sir Toby Belch), Henri Landon (Viola) and Robyn Scott as Maria, amongst others.  Robert Jeffery has composed the music and together with 3 musicians will accompany the actors at all performances.

Early bird patrons can enjoy discounted tickets at two-for-the-price-of-one for Twelfth Night previews between January 10 and 13 at 20:15.  Special performances for scholars are scheduled for January 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, February 1, 6, 7 at 19:45.  To enable families to enjoy this open-air production, family nights are scheduled for January 16, 17 & 23 & 24 at 19:45 - two tickets for R85,00 or R100,00.
